These are not tied to a particular experimental system. They cover writing up and producing figures.

Figure resolution and DPI handles the most tedious submission requirement: the journal wants 300 or 600 dpi, and what you have is a pixel count and a target physical size. It lays out how the three relate, and why enlarging a small image does not raise its dpi.

Microscope pixel size and Nyquist sampling answers the earlier question: is there any resolution in the image at all. One resolvable distance has to be sampled by at least 2.3 pixels, and the most common setup — a 60x oil objective with 6.5 um camera pixels — reaches only 2.09, meeting the classic factor of 2 but not the diagonal-corrected 2.3. Work this out before acquiring; afterwards the only fix is to reacquire.

Word count counts Chinese characters and English words separately, because submission limits are stated in words for English and characters for Chinese, and the two numbers are far apart.
